Drain clogs can be a hassle to everyone in the home. Some are stubborn, some are easy to clean. The first thing to do upon encountering a clogged drain problem is to try the natural way first before taking out chemical-laden “reinforcements” so to speak.

Huffington Post shared an easy way to unclog drains.

“What you need: A screwdriver, a plastic zip tie, scissors, white vinegar, baking soda and a washcloth. Step 1: Remove the drain cover with the screwdriver. Step 2: Get any initial gunk out with your fingers. (Rubber gloves, people.)”

Wonderful Engineering also shared a step-by-step procedure in clearing out a clogged drain without having to use harmful chemicals.

“Allow this to sit for a few minutes and then add the remaining baking soda along with the vinegar.”

“The “violent” chemical reaction caused by mixing two household drain cleaners has prompted a warning from Brampton fire officials. The victim, believed to be 39, was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto after he was splashed in the face and eyes by a mixture of sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid at his Tessler Crescent home, in the area of Bovaird Drive and Main Street North.”
